The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) inducted Roy W. Cronacher Jr., Tom Davidson, Captain Ralph Delph, Captain Jose Wejebe and New Jersey’s Patrick Healey into the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame. In an official ceremony on August 29, 2026, at Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium in Springfield, MO, two-time Olympian and Master of Ceremonies Andy Mill told the room, “This evening is internationally recognized as the most important and meaningful celebration in the world of fishing.”
“Only 163 remarkable individuals have earned a place in this most exclusive fraternity,” said Mill, explaining how the 2026 inductees have not only achieved greatness, but they have changed the game for all of us. “Their innovations, accomplishments, leadership, and examples have elevated our sport and inspired generations around the world,” Mills said.
According to the IGFA, Patrick Healey, President and CEO of Viking Yacht Company, exemplifies leadership at the intersection of sportfishing, conservation, and industry advancement. Under his stewardship, Viking celebrated its 60th anniversary as a family-owned company while maintaining a steadfast commitment to sustainable fisheries and angler access.
“It would be easy to induct Pat Healey on the strength of what Viking has meant to this sport, but his impact reaches far beyond that,” said Jason Schratwieser, IGFA President, while adding “A three-time International Masters champion and a champion for conservation, he has left an indelible mark on the world of sportfishing. The IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame is the highest honor in our sport, and we are proud to welcome Pat into this distinguished group of individuals.”
Tireless advocates for the marine industry, the Healey family played a key role in repealing the 1991 Luxury Tax, and Patrick himself has been deeply engaged in fisheries policy, including the Magnuson-Stevens Act reauthorization and science-based opposition to unnecessary species listings. He was an early proponent of circle hooks and continues to support research and conservation initiatives that protect fisheries and the sport.
During his hall of fame induction speech, Healey spoke of his four decades of fishing and boatbuilding, retelling one story about getting fired by his father, Viking Co-Founder Bill Healey, after returning late to work following a Virginia Beach tournament win. “I only know how to do two things, build boats and go fishing,” he said with a laugh, going on to thank the captains, boatbuilders, dealers, owners and family members who helped him along the way.
“I never, ever in my wildest dreams thought this would happen,” said Healey during his acceptance speech, adding “It’s just an incredible, incredible honor to be standing here in front of all of you tonight and to be inducted into this Hall of Fame.”
The 2026 IGFA Hall of Fame class joins a roster that includes Ernest Hemingway, Zane Grey, Mary Orvis Marbury, Ted Williams, George H.W. Bush, Bill Dance, Lee and Joan Wulff, Flip Pallot, Alfred C. Glassell Jr., Kip Farrington and Curt Gowdy.
