Ozark “GSO” Results

On Saturday August 21, despite the threat of tropical storm Henri, the 22nd annual Ozark’s Greater Saltwater Open tournament went off as planned. According to Ozarks member Bill Young, although the number of participants was down a bit because of the storm, 45 entrants were greeted to a mirror flat ocean.

“Several times during the day storms threatened but fizzled out before they could cause a problem,” Young said, adding “at the end of the day 31 participants weighed in their catch with the crew aboard the Fish Monger taking the day.” That crew had a combined weight of 18 pounds, 8 ounces for a three fluke total.  The Vessel Flat-U-Lence took second with a combined weight of 16 pounds, 9 ounces, with team TNT taking the third spot coming with 16 lbs even. Young said Gloria Fay and Outta Line rounded out the top five at 15 pounds, 10.4 ounces, and 15 pounds, 9 ounces respectively.

At the annual awards picnic on Sunday, August 22, the top three tournament crews received their awards which included gold engraved fluke spoons donated M 3 Tackle, along with a one-year subscription to The Fisherman.
