With the migratory run of striped bass typically hitting the North Jersey coast at some point this month, tournament action along the Raritan Bay turns to “catch and release” cash winners.
First up is the Twin Lights Cup Striper Tournament on Friday, October 10. Based out of Bahr’s Landing, this second annual event helps support the Monmouth County Mental Health Association and Operation Freedom Paws, a nonprofit that empowers veterans, first responders, children, and individuals with disabilities by teaching them to train their own service dogs.

A one-day event (rain date of October 17), the mandatory captains meeting will take place on Thursday, October 9 starting at 7 p.m. at Fisherman’s Source in Ocean Township. The tournament kicks off at 6 a.m. on Friday the 10th with registration and breakfast at Bahr’s Landing in Highlands. The tournament itself runs from 7:30 a.m. until noon with the official check-in, luncheon and awards ceremony back at Bahr’s at 1 p.m.
