Opening Day is set for this Saturday, April 13 at 6 a.m. in both Rhode Island and Connecticut; anglers throughout the region are chomping at the bit to participate in this age-old tradition. We’ve seen a sudden increase in inshore codfish catches along the deeper shorelines of Rhode Island, with many kayakers cashing in. Stripers are moving further every day and we’re seeing the first 20-pounders now taking trolled lures in western Long Island Sound. Lastly, the bite for big largemouth bass has been nearing its prespawn peak this week, don’t miss out!
