Albie fever is spreading quickly across the region and the epicenter seems to be Nantucket Sound. We’re hearing about good numbers of albies, along with bonito and some Spanish mackerel from that region, setting up the possibility for an ‘inshore pelagic grand slam’. The first confirmed albie reports came out of Rhode Island as well this week, where we expect this, highly-contagious, fever will spread like wildfire. Striper action has been best at Block Island and around the inshore reefs of Newport and Jamestown. Big blues continue to patrol the Race and fast action can be found there, day and night.
