The first signs of fall are hitting our area now. Spanish mackerel are in town, followed by the arrival of green bonito. Some cooler days and nights are in the near future forecast, which should move bait in the back bays, getting stripers and bluefish on the feed, too. Albies are a few miles off the beach and closing as well. Fluke fishing is gaining more life from the presence of peanut bunker throughout the bays. Reports of tuna are still popping up to the south of the island and off Montauk. Keep in mind that state beaches have changed to open driving after Labor Day, meaning you can drive on them any time of the day with the proper equipment.
