Massachusetts kicked things up a few notches this week when they stocked some massive brown trout, weighing as much as 10 pounds, into select waters across the state; rumor has it that some broodstock brook trout are coming soon as well. We’ve seen a real smorgasbord of species this week ranging from kayak cod, to 40-inch stripers, to heavyweight largemouth bass. There’s much anticipation surrounding the April 1 opener of spring tog, with shops stocking up on crabs ahead of the unofficial start to the saltwater season in the Northeast. Also on the docket for our rainy weekend is a “Captain’s Corner” event at Crafty One Customs in Portsmouth, RI; this will happen on Sunday, March 30th from 1 to 3 p.m., many of Rhody’s best captains will be on hand to answer all your questions regarding a variety of species.
