Just in time for the Memorial Day long weekend, the bluefish have arrived in three locations across southern New England and will undoubtedly spread out from there. Striper action continues to steal the headlines though, with a spring push of 20- to 30-pound fish, the likes of which we haven’t seen in many years. Bottom fishers will be excited to hear that sea bass action is beginning on the Cape while fluke catches have begun to ratchet up along the South County Beaches. And with widespread trout stocking ahead of this unofficial start to the summer fishing season, freshwater anglers will find plenty of action on inland lakes and ponds to keep the rod bent all weekend long. Have a safe and fishy Memorial Day holiday!
