The first official day of summer doesn’t arrive until June 21, but for all intents and purposes the Jersey Shore summer kickoff is this Memorial Day weekend. We lead off with sheepshead in South Jersey this week, alongside a Cape May County fluke of 11.86 pounds, our first registered doormat of the season. This week’s video was shot at the Tackle Box in Hazlet in advance of Bluff Day on Saturday, a great option if the weather forecasters are even close to being right this week! Skies are expected to clear on Sunday for targeting striped bass out front, perhaps a weakfish or two in the back, or black drum by boat or by beach. A slow start to black sea bass season but the bite seems to have improved in the summer-like temperatures this week; maybe with these warming waters we’ll see some tuna in our reports by next week. Get a full freshwater rundown from Beltzville with our Pocono Outdoors Guy, with news, tournament updates and weekend advice.  And remember our heroes; this Memorial Day Monday, May 25th, take a moment to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to these United States.
