This week we’ve seen a sharp increase in the overall number of angers out chasing blackfish. By most accounts, the bite has been consistent for keepers to about 7 pounds, but bigger fish have been a little tougher to come by. The striper migration is starting to wind down up in Maine, but there’s still plenty of time across southern New England, with great beach reports from the Cape to Connecticut and good numbers of bass pushing into estuaries across the region. We even had a landmark catch reported this week, a whopping 76-inch sturgeon was landed in the Cape Con Canal! October is a great time to be fisherman in New England!
