The more things change, the more they stay the same. A highly-infectious strain of albie fever is sweeping the region as new waves of these tiny tuna surge into New England waters. The fishing has been red hot in Rhody and western Long Island Sound, with good reports coming in from the South Cape, Vineyard Sound and eastern Long Island Sound. Striper action is beginning to blossom, as surfcasters report a better pick of bigger fish and blitzes become more and more common. Blackfish catches continue to steadily rise in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, just in time for next weekend’s RI Tog Classic (October 9), put on by Crafty Custom Rods in Portsmouth, RI.
