If it’s in the tuna family, it’s dominating local conversations right now. The best albie fishing is still centered around Nantucket Sound, although the bite has become pickier, there are big fish in the area. Bonito are best across the eastern half of Rhode Island and crossing into the waters of western Buzzards Bay. The bluefin bite has spread out, from Montauk to the tip of the Cape, sizes ranging from 30 inches to 900 pounds are represented and an army of boats is chasing them. There’s really not much that compares to early September fishing in New England.
