With an overall length of 24 feet, 11 inches and sporting an overwide 8-foot, 9-inch beam, the Ultra 255 SE is the flagship of the “Ultra family comfort center console” lineup, which also includes five other members ranging from 19 to 23 feet in length. Although the Ultra 255 SE can bend the rods with the fleet when that moment suites you, her forte is to seize the moments in between fishing frenzies when it’s time to kick back and enjoy the seaside experience. With an “ultra” roomy aft bench seat positioned across the entire width of the transom, a doublewide aft-facing bench at the back of the fiberglass leaning post, plus a pair of up/down cushioned bolster seats at the helm, captain and a crew of seven can enjoy the sunset while sipping a frosty beverage. But that’s not all; there’s a seat in the forward section of the console, with a pair of raised bench seats port and starboard in the bow that feature contoured cushions and plug-in seat back supports, with an optional filler cushion to create a full-width sun deck or table-top for entertaining. Insulated 148-quart coolers are positioned under each of the bench seats for chilling the day’s catch and/or stowing your safety gear and other requisite comfort items for a day at your favorite beachside hideaway.

An additional 188-quart dry stowage area is available under the cockpit sole in the bow, accessed via a flush hatch, which is perfect for stowing your family fun gear like skis, tow ropes and other water sports accessories. When it’s time to anchor-up for the day, the flush deck hatch in the forepeak opens to reveal an anchor cradle and enough space to hold your rode out of the way, but ready for immediate deployment. Other standards include LED underwater lights, both a bow and stern anchor locker, china bowl head with holding tank and pump-out, a freshwater system, bow and cockpit bolsters, a six-pack of pull-up stainless steel cleats and more.

Rides Like the Wind

Sea Hunt is a Yamaha rigging partner and offers 4.2L four-stroke V6 outboards as standard power on the transom. Equipped with a Yamaha F300 and swinging a 15.5 diameter x 17 pitch blade stainless steel SWS II prop, factory tests show that this South Carolina girl will hit a top speed of 48.5 mph at 5900 rpm, with two people onboard, 1/2 tank of fuel and all of the requisite test and safety gear. Dropping the throttle back to 3500 revs, she’ll turn a thrifty 24.5 mph at only 8.5 gallons per hour, for a net of 2.88 mpg, which are her optimum fuel economy numbers. If you feel the need for more speed, 4-grand is your sweet spot, hitting 31.5 mph on the GPS navigator, which drinking 11.5 gph, for a bottom line of 2.76 mpg, which is still not too shabby. If fast lane transit is imperative, there’s no major fuel penalty for bumping up the electronic throttle control to 4500 rpm, where she’ll turn 36.3 mph at 15 gph, which translates to 2.42 mpg.

Like most Sea Hunt boats, the Ultra 255 SE’s 18-degree aft deadrise hull is stable at rest, jumps quickly up on plane with just a slight nudge from the throttle and her sharp 55-degree entry angle in the bow cuts smartly through a tight afternoon chop with a minimum of bumps and bruises. The Ultra 255 SE’s running bottom rides at a fairly flat running angle and is surprisingly soft and dry when cruising at speed, even in a crosswind. Other notable standard features on the Sea Hunt Ultra 255 SE center console include a standard integrated fiberglass T-top with a three-sided acrylic enclosure for added weather protection; both port side and transom entry doors; vapor mist system under the T-top; LED spreader lights; powder coated recessed bow rails and T-top rails; a high pressure raw water washdown system; under-gunwale rod storage racks and toe rails; a JL Audio marine stereo with USB connection; retractable dive ladder; Seastar tilt helm hydraulic steering; electric trim tabs with LED indicators; and much more.

Sea Hunt has become one of the most popular brands for coastal anglers and their families who are looking for a quality multi-mission platform, with the perfect balance of creature comforts and fishing features, at an affordable price point. Sea Hunt’s ABYC construction standards and transferrable 10-year hull warranty will only support their growing popularity moving forward.
