Second Annual Larry Carlucci Memorial Tournament Set For June 6-7

The second annual Larry Carlucci Memorial Fishing Tournament is set to take place June 6-7 along the Jones Beach shoreline. The catch-and-release event is co-hosted by the Long Island Beach Buggy Association (LIBBA) and the New York Coalition for Recreational Fishing (NYCRF) in honor of longtime fishing advocate Larry Carlucci, who served as an officer for both organizations.

Tournament headquarters will be located at West End 2 opposite the comfort station. While the contest officially begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6 and runs through noon on Sunday, June 7, organizers will kick off the day with a beach cleanup beginning at 9 a.m. Participants are also encouraged to bring clothing, food, and toiletry donations to support several charitable organizations backed by the clubs.

The tournament boundaries extend from the east end of Jones Beach West End 1 to the Jones Inlet construction docks. Eligible species include striped bass measuring a minimum of 28 inches and bluefish, with all entered fish required to be released. Entry is free for active members of LIBBA, NYCRF, and the New York Surf Fishing Contest.

This year’s event will feature two divisions, including one for general members of LIBBA and NYCRF and another exclusively for surfcasting clubs officially registered in the New York Surf Fishing Contest. Food and an awards ceremony will follow the tournament on Sunday. For additional information, contact Joe Pellegrini at libbacourtesypatrol@gmail.com or 516-729-8582.
