Winter has hit Long Island, but some saltwater fishing is still left for anglers! Sea bass fishing out of Montauk and South Shore ports is producing jumbos on the deep ocean wrecks with easy limits as well. A mix of other deepwater bottom species are coming up on these super sea bass trips, including pollock, ling, weakfish and jumbo scup. Tidal creeks are starting to produce white perch on the right tides on both the North and South Shores. A few schoolie stripers remain around in the backwaters around the island for catch-and-release fishing. Also, tune into the weekly video fishing forecast this week for an update on what’s going on with stripers, a look at our January Boat & Motor guide issue, and the winners from the Dream Boat Challenge and Coastal Kayak Clash.
