Long Island Video Fishing Forecast – December 3, 2020

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF GOOD WEATHER WINDOWS

This week, managing editor Matt Broderick offers up some suggestions on what to stuff into those holiday stockings, and senior editor Fred Golofaro reminds us that the window is closing on some of our favorite inshore species.

On the fishing front, it has been relatively quiet since Monday’s storm, with a good dose of wind into mid-week. It’s that time of the season when you need to take advantage of good weather windows as the seasons for two of our favorite inshore species are quickly winding down. The last day to catch blackfish on Long Island Sound is next Wednesday, December 9. The season on the South Shore and NY Bight stretches to December 22. Striped bass season runs through December 15 but you can still play catch and release since striped bass are the one species you can legally target for catch and release fishing during the closed season. Those hopping aboard offshore wreck trips will be happy to know that sea bass and scup seasons run through the end of the year.
