Tuna Fishing & South Shore Fluking Picks Up
Tuna fishing anywhere from 30 miles and out to the canyon kicked into high gear last week with especially encouraging reports from The Dip, Tuna Ridge and Vetches Canyon! Reports of yellows up to 100 pounds and bluefin up to 175 came into Montauk and South Shore ports. The fish were mainly caught on the troll but jig & pop is certainly not out of the question. South Shore bay fluking also saw some added life with additional quality fish in the mix as well with the outskirts of the ocean reefs hosted a pick of quality fluke to 7 pounds. North shore stripers became a morning and evening game on either fresh bunker chunks or live bunker. Porgies, once again, were a mainstay from Mattinecock to Mattituck with some keeper sea bass in the mix too. Cobia are starting to creep into Long Island waters as well with a few scattered reports coming in from western South Shore bays.
