MORE TROUT FOR KIDS – MAFMC SUMMER FLOUNDER WORKSHOP
This week, managing editor Matt Broderick tells how trout stocking is a perfect introduction for youngsters into the fishing game and suggests leaving more fish for the kids. Senior editor Fred Golofaro has all the info you need to participate in next week’s virtual summer flounder workshop hosted by the MAFMC in an effort to gather input for future management of the recreational fluke fishery. The workshop is open to all individuals and you will be able to provide input and feedback regarding discard concerns and potential management strategies.
On the fishing front, the handful of boats getting offshore continue to see improved fishing and many of the Island’s lakes and ponds have received their first stocking of trout. And, a final reminder that next Wednesday, March 31 is the last day to get your state park fishing permits or you will have to wait until September 7 before they become available again.
