Surf Bluefish along the South Shore
Larger Stripers Moving in
The sand beaches showed great signs of bluefish life last week with fish into the teens reported by casters some striper were in the mix with them. Joining the current stripers around the island and inside bays, some larger fish are starting to make their way into the mix with. Better reports have been on the western end of the island but quality fish are trickling east into Peconic Bay and Montauk as well. Weakfishing in the Great South Bay continued again with some better weakfish reports emerging from Peconic and eastern bays. Fluke fishing was steady inside western bays and should only get better as the water warms up a bit more. Porgies have invaded the eastern grounds and once you can find them, filling a cooler isn’t tough at all.
