Porgy season also opened earlier this week, with reports of them being caught already. Bluefish have been making their presence known on the South Shore of the island, harassing bunker schools throughout the bays. Stripers have been on both shores and have made their way to Montauk as well. For those who were curious, the last days of the tog season were productive for those who tried for them with catches into the double digits. As a last reminder, recreational tuna fish for giant bluefin (73 inches or larger) also closes until the end of the year with the reaching of the subquota.
