The fall striper run is in full swing with excellent fishing underway at the tip of both forks. In Montauk, the action has spilled over to the surf where blitzes were being reported from the weekend through the beginning of this week. We will have to wait and see what effect the mid-week blow will have on the fishing. Good surf action also took place along Southampton beaches, with some good innings also reported along FINS and scattered locations along the South Shore to Long Beach. Central Sound beaches also surrendered a few nice bass into the 30-pound class on pencil poppers at first light.
The big news this week of course is this Sunday’s (10/11/20) opening of blackfish season on the North Shore and next Thursday’s (10/15/20) opening around the rest of the Island. The bag limit on the Sound is 3 fish, and 4 fish for the rest of the region. The size limit is 16 inches in both areas.
