The fall run is gaining momentum across Long Island, with big striped bass showing along the East End and South Shore following the recent storm. This week we recap the results of the Fred Golofaro Montauk Surf Fishing Classic, take a look at the Hudson River young-of-the-year striped bass survey, and run through the latest beach access and season updates. Fluke season remains open through October 15, while blackfish season is getting underway with different opening dates and bag limits for the Long Island Sound and New York Bight. We’ll also go around the map for the latest catches, preview upcoming events including the Tobay In-Water Boat Show, and check in with our correspondents from across the Island.
