NJ’S Sod Bank Stripers – The Countdown To Spring Begins
It may be hard to believe, but come Monday we’re only 28 days away from the start of the back bay striper season in the Garden State. So while the countdown to spring feels like it has entered the homestretch as January ends, a dose of temps in the teens to end the weeks is a prickly reminder that there’s plenty of winter left in the tank. White perch in the brackish rivers and creeks have providing some of the best action in recent weeks; in the February edition out this week Nick Honachefsky breaks down that fishery and tactics, though we’ve got a sneak peek at Nick’s latest Saltwater Underground television episode airing on Friday and Sunday on the Sportsman’s Channel. Reports are there are plenty of stripers holding over this winter in the same areas where those perch are being caught; don’t forget, when it comes time to soak bloodworms or clams along the sod banks on March 1, you’ll need to be in compliance with the new circle hook regulations in place for 2021? TheFisherman.com will feature a live seminar on Thursday, January 28 at 6 p.m. to help you gear up for the new season ahead. Get details on that event with other weekend options from the Jersey Shore out to the Pocono Mountains in this week’s full video forecast.
