Introduced at the Miami Boat Show back in 2016, the Invincible 42 Center Cabin is the ultimate switch-hitter, combining the best of both worlds with the fishability of a center console and the comfort and overnighting capabilities of a roomy cabin, set under the spacious center console command station.
Entering their 11th year of production, Invincible boats are some of the hottest fishing machines on the planet right now and for good reason. Veteran naval architect Michael Peters is really “in the zone” and has designed some of the most interesting boats of the last decade, including the U.S. Navy’s small fast-attack boat, which uses a similar running bottom to the Invincible 36CC. Peter’s patented Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) hull creates one of the lowest drag coefficients of any mono hull fishing boat currently in creation. The real world benefits of this slippery twin-stepped 22-degree aft deadrise running bottom include increased speed, a flat running attitude and improved fuel economy compared to most competitive stepped hulls or deep-vees, plus a better overall ride in a variety of sea conditions. Simply put, if you need to be the first one to the fishing grounds, and you want to get there without scheduling an appointment with a chiropractor, this could be your ticket to ride.

Queen of the Fleet
This yearling 42 Center Cabin marries a true fish-around layout to Invincible’s largest hull to date. Standard comfort features down below include an air-conditioned cabin, 7-foot long double berth, stand-up head area with MSD, counter top with freshwater sink, refrigerator, microwave, 6 feet of standing headroom and plenty of dry storage. Going topsides, the standard fishing features include above and below-deck livewells, a total of five cavernous insulated fishboxes, a built-in anchor locker with a low-profile through-stem anchor chute, generous amounts of dry storage for your tackle and gear, raw water washdown and AGM sealed batteries. When it’s time to check on the plumbing and critical wiring in the bilge areas, a flush hatch set aft under the cockpit sole will allow easy access. Copious amounts of cockpit space will enable you and the crew to take on the largest saltwater gamefish in the distant canyons and return to tell the tale.
I was able to jump aboard this speedster at the Ft. Lauderdale boat show last November and this Florida girl will turn heads anywhere she goes, both at work at the distant edge and when it’s time to play at your favorite watering hole or beachside hideaway. A battery charger with shore power will allow you to enjoy the comforts of home when it’s time for a family road trip or when traveling to a coastal tournament.
Extended Range with Speed
She is available in either triple or quad outboard configurations up to a max of 1,600 sea ponies, with four-stroke engine options from Yamaha. With top speeds in excess of 66 mph the norm for the triple outboard setup, the faraway canyons are calling, courtesy of her huge 565-gallon fuel capacity. Fuel economy is fairly predictable if you can keep a judicious hand on the throttles, with 1-mpg+ fuel economy from 3500 to 4000 rpm, where she will cruise at 36 to 43 mph, depending on your load, crew size and sea conditions. If VHF radio chatter convinces you that you are in the wrong spot and you need to hustle to a hot bite at a neighboring canyon, bumping up the electronic throttles to 4500 revs will push this twin stepped hull along in excess of 50 mph at 0.95 mpg, so it’s still relatively fuel efficient. That’s the added flexibility of an enormous fuel capacity that will also support extended two-night stays at the 100-fathom line and beyond.
Construction of the Invincible 42 Center Cabin is totally top-shelf, with a vacuum-bagged and cored 100% vinylester resin hull, 316 grade stainless steel hardware, waterproof switches and circuit breakers, a trio of 2000-gph bilge pumps, race-proven K-Plane trim tabs and more.
