The Peconic Bay Power Squadron will host America’s Boating Course beginning April 25 at 9:30 a.m. at the Riverhead Free Library, providing boaters with an opportunity to meet New York’s mandatory boater education requirements. The two-session course (continuing May 2) will cover boating laws, safety equipment, navigation, emergencies, GPS use, and trailering, and is approved by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
Participants who complete the course and pass the exam will receive a certificate and wallet card verifying compliance with New York State’s boating education law, and may also qualify for insurance discounts. The cost is $65 and includes the course manual; registration is available at PBPS.us/education/schedule before April 10 or by calling 631-523-7889.
