Freshwater fishing on the island is in full swing right now. All lakes have been stocked with more stockings to come during the month of April. Remember that this Saturday at Belmont Lake State Park, the fishing festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the lake has been fully stocked with it. Suffolk Marine in Babylon will also be hosting their open house featuring demos from Regulator, Sea Hunt and Jones Brothers boats. Saturday also marks the last day for the big boating season kickoff sale for Marine Mate in Lindenhurst as well. For the saltwater reports, stripers are filtering in weekly with the western bays seeing the majority of the action. Keep in mind blackfish and winter flounder seasons are now officially open.
