It’s a full-speed bite across the region this week with action firing on all fronts. Offshore, bluefin tuna remain the headliner from the 10 to 70 miles south of Long Island, with consistent catches on both the troll and jig. Inshore, fluke fishing has been excellent with wrecks and reefs producing solid numbers of keepers, some topping 8 pounds. Sea bass remain in the mix, though finding quality-sized fish takes a bit of effort. Along the South Shore, wrecks are holding both fluke and sea bass, while the East End continues to offer a shot at tuna, sharks, and even the occasional mahi. On the North Shore, anglers are finding weakfish and porgies in the Sound, especially around deeper structure. And in the surf, striped bass are beginning to show again under the cover of darkness. We’ve also got updates on the Dreamboat and Coastal Kayak Clash standings, plus a look ahead to two major fall events: the Fred Golofaro Memorial Montauk Surf Classic and The Fisherman’s Huntington Hilton Fishing Show.
