OFFSHORE WRECKS, TROUT AND CIRCLE HOOK REGS
While we saw a few good weather days this week, few anglers were able to take advantage of offshore wreck trips, and it looks like seas will be kicking up for the weekend, leaving Friday as the best opportunity to get offshore. In Montauk, the Viking Star was able to put together a decent catch of cod to 13 pounds on Tuesday. The Captree based Laura Lee has a special wreck trip slated to depart 6 a.m. Friday, and in Point Lookout, the Super Hawk is set for a deep water wreck trip leaving the dock at 1 a.m.
Trout are another option, and managing editor Matt Broderick has some tips on how wielding a fly rod can help keep you entertained during the short days of winter, while senior editor Fred Golofaro tells how you can go about commenting on changes to the new circle hook regulations for bait fishing for striped bass.
