The cold conditions of last week brought fishable ice to the island with the east end and central island ponds seeing a mix of bass, pickerel, perch and panfish. Warmer temperatures already have begun to thaw out lakes so we advise against more ice fishing for now. If you can find open freshwater, you have a good chance at the same ice species. Some cod boats will be trying to sail again this weekend, weather permitting. Also, tune in this week for more on events, magazine previews and more from The Fisherman.
