New Striper Regulations Become Official: 28 – 31 inches
Sea Bass Season Opens Friday
It’s finally official. The new striper slot regulation of 28 to 31 inches was put in place by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation earlier this week on Tuesday. Also, remember that sea bass season opens this Friday with a new size limit of 16-1/2 inches. Season and bag limits stayed the same. For the fishing, the wind made it tough for some to get out, but more reports of excellent surf striper catches came in last week, with a 51-pounder leading the way. Bass and blues are still loaded in the Montauk rips, while decent fluking has been occurring around most of the island, with some places on the North Shore seeing better action. It looks like rain is in the forecast, but Friday does look fishable for the sea bass opener.
