The official start of spring begins today and no better way to kick it off than trout stockings in Long Island lakes, ponds and streams. The New York Department of Environmental Conservation will begin their annual stockings this week with rainbow and brown trout and will follow up in the coming weeks with supplemental stockings for anglers to enjoy. If you prefer the salt, let it be known that stripers are starting to prowl in the back bays around the island and are happily taking small swimming plugs and soft plastics. Keep in mind this Sunday will be the last Fisherman’s Flea Market for the spring that you will be able to get your Danco pliers at with a subscription. Also, tune in this week for an Open Boat special on ’25 fishing goals, details on a great sale event going on and 4×4 reminders.
