INDIAN SUMMER STRIPERS AND TOG
While the start of the week was a blowout, a long stretch of Indian summer-like weather that will carry well into next week should provide a lot of opportunities to tangle with stripers and blackfish around many parts of the Island. The fall run is in full swing from Montauk and Orient to Raritan Bay, and blackfish are getting high marks just about everywhere.
Despite gale force winds on Tuesday, The View Striped Bass Tournament celebrated its 30th year running with a much more scaled down version of the event due to Covid restrictions. The small number of contestants who challenged the weather found plenty of stripers inside the bay to help settle the contest. Mike Quintal on Sasquatch took first with a 14.8-pound slot fish. Second went to Jake Albanese on Hot Dog with a 12.4 pounder, and Jake Kuhn took third with a 10.8 on Sydster.
