Just like that, we’re in the swing of fall fishing. Cool nights have triggered great fishing in the bays and harbors around the island. Fluking, specifically, is shining right now, with good fishing taking place in the South Shore bays. If you find the peanut bunker, chances are you will find some fluke near them and possibly some weakfish along with striper and bluefish. On the tuna front, good reports came in from the midshore grounds east of Shinnecock Inlet. Better surf reports are coming from the South Shore Inlets, which have stripers after dark as well as bluefish and albies during daylight hours. Check out this week’s report for a look at some “late inning” fluke bait, as well as a look at the current live peanut bunker bite going on right now in the bays!
