New Jersey Video Fishing Forecast – April 1, 2021

More Details on Tuesday’s 58-Pound Raritan Bay Striper

Bobby Read “pedaled” his Hobie kayak out on Raritan Bay this past Tuesday in search of jumbo striped bass; while yak buddies he was with were catching handfuls of fish to 34 inches on smaller plugs and jigs, Bobby spent 3 hours trolling his own Back Bay Plugs’ “bigwood” in chartreuse over white until that one fish hit, and hit hard. The picture of Bobby Read’s 58-pound striped bass at The Fisherman’s Facebook page reached almost 50,000 by Thursday morning and generating a lot of opinions; in this week’s video forecast for the New Jersey, Delaware Bay edition we have more information about that catch, the measurement and the release back into the Raritan for the spawn. But that’s not the only “50” in our forecast either; let’s not forget about the 47-inch fish caught and released by David Mitchell this past Friday along the Delaware River. No fooling, April striper action is already catching fire in the Garden State, along with the return of tautog with catch & release trout as well.
