NJ/DE Bluefish – Has The Spring Invasion Begun?

The afternoon following Monday’s “fish” moon found 10-pound plus bluefish reported from Lewes, DE to Island Beach and the inlet wall at Manasquan. By Wednesday, those yellow-eyed devils were tearing up plastics on the Raritan Bay and racing through inlets all along the Jersey Shore, a good indication that the lean, mean spring racers have arrived. As we head into the first weekend of May, jumbo blues and tiderunner weakfish should take center stage for paid members of The Fisherman Magazine looking to score a Dream Boat Fishing Challenge fish to start the tournament month. The gnats are biting in Cape May as of this week, which just means the black drum are chewing as well as we also kick off our two-month Black Drum Battle on Saturday, May 1. Before dunking clam or “she” crab for boomers this week, go to BlackDrumBattle.com and register for free. Join us for the full video forecast this week in Cape May, for details on the latest inshore bite on stripers, blues, weakfish and drum, along with a report from Cape May Courthouse this week for a Tuesday “anti windfarm” protest.
