Snowpocalypse – Jersey Shore Surf Options After the Storm
No better way to begin saying farewell to the global pandemic than with a little snowpocalyptic nor’easter hitting the region before the holidays! Some of those hearty souls hoping to bang out a few striped bass in the surf on Wednesday morning were rewarded with good action which has been mostly steady along some stretches of the Jersey Coast for weeks. And while Thursday and Friday conditions may send many surfcasters to long-delayed holiday chores, a colorful mid-week forecast from NOAA Weather has NW winds and light seas in the forecast for Saturday morning, setting the table nicely for a quick return to the December striper run. Boats which stayed in port for a few days during the nor’easter should be back out on the tautog and sea bass grounds in the weekend ahead, and while the blackfishing will continue into the New Year the time running out to put a few humpbacks on ice. Hopefully this nasty weather system moves out quickly enough as forecast, so that while Thursday may be a bust for many anglers it does provide a day (or two) of getting caught up around the home and office in order to free up time in the weekend ahead.
