NJ Fluke Opens Saturday & Ship Sinks at Manasquan

The long-awaited start to New Jersey’s summer flounder – fluke season – arrives on Saturday, May 22. Be sure to pick up the May edition of the New Jersey, Delaware Bay edition of The Fisherman for a county-by-county rundown on some top local waterways to target keepers this weekend. In this week’s video forecast, we run through a few details for big day ahead, with outgoing tide in the morning on Saturday and Sunday looking good for the back bay and salty river drifters. Plus, watch a 145-foot former commercial menhaden boat sink along Manasquan Reef, while we delve into reports on 50-pound stripers to the north and 80-pound plus drum from the south. Keeper bluefin are reported north of the Wilmington as the weekend before Memorial Day is shaping up to be a grand kickoff to summer. Also, the Northeast Striped Bass Study deployment is scheduled for Monday the 24th; look for our fleet of satellite taggers somewhere below Lady Liberty or perhaps where those fabulous 50s are being reported this week!
