Only two weeks away from the start of New Jersey’s outback striper season on March 1 – that’s just 16 days before sod banks are lined with casters looking for the season’s first score, as most Jersey Shore bait and tackle shops reopen again for the ’25 season. With fresh snow on the ground as of Wednesday morning, your best saltwater option heading into the weekend is open water white perch in South Jersey, or perhaps jumping aboard one of the head boats out of Shark River or Manasquan in search of ling, cod, pollock or tautog.
