Only two weeks away from the start of New Jersey’s outback striper season on March 1 – that’s just 16 days before sod banks are lined with casters looking for the season’s first score, as most Jersey Shore bait and tackle shops reopen again for the ’25 season.  With fresh snow on the ground as of Wednesday morning, your best saltwater option heading into the weekend is open water white perch in South Jersey, or perhaps jumping aboard one of the head boats out of Shark River or Manasquan in search of ling, cod, pollock or tautog.  In this week’s video we run down the seminars this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Philadelphia Fishing Show in Oaks, PA and at the New Jersey Boat Sale & Expo, both presented by The Fisherman Magazine.  Combined with the Surf Day lineup on Saturday there are more than 60 “how to” fishing seminars at three shows across two states this weekend.  Jenni has some open ice advice in Open Boat this week, while our Pocono Outdoors Guy provides a full report on the tristate regional freshwater action.  Learn where we’ll be this week so you can grab a complimentary copy of The Fisherman and a set of Danco pliers as our gift to you with a new or renewing subscription.
