Excellent Montauk & South Shore Fluking & Offshore Species Creep Closer
There’s no such thing as summer doldrums going on right now. Fluking off of Montauk and South Shore bays has been excellent recently with action and the further east you go, it seems that the keepers become more frequent. The West End of the island is continuing to see a consistent cobia run anywhere from Jones Inlet to Rockaway but that doesn’t mean you won’t catch one to the east. We’ve gotten several reports of catches inside Shinnecock Bay too. Porgies remain on the ocean wrecks and along the entire North Shore. The western Sound is also seeing an okay bite of fluke out of Glenn Cove as well. Offshore fishing is also coming closer and closer by the week. Last week saw bluefin, yellowfin, bigeye, wahoo and mahi all within reasonable striking distance when the weather allowed it.
