Another week of Good Bottom Fishing
First Herring Reports
For the boats still sailing on the East End, they’re having no trouble finding a mix of large sea bass and blackfish fishing around Block Island and the windmills. The occasional slot codfish and scup are finding their way into the cooler by the end of most trips too. Off the South Shore sea bass are the main game on the mid to deep wrecks for the head boats steaming south. Blackfish are still being picked off the local reefs closer to shore. Stripers are still popping up off Jones and west of that near Raritan Bay. Over on the North Shore the squid left the party but the herring are slowly coming in to replace them. Tune in for the full forecast from the contributors along with fishing news from around the island.
