MONTAUK SNAP-JIGGING
This week, join managing editor Matt Broderick on a snap-jigging trip with Capt. John Paduano as they cash in on Montauk’s summertime striped bass run. Senior editor Fred Golofaro’s report on beach access saw a last minute change as Suffolk County Parks changed Shinnecock East 4×4 access from fully open, to being limited to the parking area while they relocated some of the camping sites due to changes in plover activity. In addition, Smith Point’s Outer Beach is now closed completely due to plovers. Fred does have some good news on a trio of surf fishing events to look forward to this fall as we emerge from Covid. And, catch updates on this week’s fishing scene as our crew of field reporters cover the fishing on both shores from one end of the Island to the other.
