Long Island Video Fishing Forecast – May 8, 2025

We went from front runner bluefish last week to the invasion this week. Bluefish have hit just about all of the South Shore now from the West End to East. Quite a few of the blues are well over 10 pounds as well and are hitting just about anything that hits the water. The awaited fluke season kicked off last Sunday and it was not a disappointment. Good catches up to 6 pounds were reported inside the South Shore bays. The bite should only get better as the water temperature increases. Striped bass are not lacking either. All bays on both shores as well as the end of the island are all seeing stripers now. Porgies showed up strong for the opening week with “boat limits” reported from the eastern end. Weakfish are popping up as well inside Great South and Peconic Bays up to 6 pounds. The weather is right and the fish are chewing. And for all the mothers out there, we hope you enjoy your special day and get a chance to go fishing, too!
