Stripers to 40 Pounds at Inlets

Another Spectacular Fluking Week

A string of northeast winds was just what the region needed to really kick things off. Good stripers reports emerged from the Montauk and South Shore inlet areas with fish to 40 pounds both in the surf and boats. The Gut also has good a good body of stripes bass. Despite the heavy wind last week, fluking stayed strong inside the bays with a lot of action and plenty of keepers. Montauk had great fluking and hopefully those fish stick around as the wind subsides as well. Albies are a little bit off the beach but moving in and out of casting range for surf fishermen while a ton of bonito remain close to shore. Big porgies are all over the Sound. Keep in mind that tonight is the big Fisherman Magazine event at the Hunting Hilton with free goodies for the first 600 paying attendees, over 100 vendors and eight seminars going on. This weekend is also the annual Fred Golofaro Memorial Montauk Classic. This year the weigh station will be the Montauk Anglers Club.
