Down the Shore for Cobia, Sheepshead, & Yellowfin
A 26-pound surf-caught, Ocean County cobia leads off this week’s video fishing forecast from the docks at Point Pleasant. With nearly two weeks left before the official start of summer we are beginning to see a little more summer variety in the mix in the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region. While BFT have been mostly MIA, the yellowfin tuna bite seems to have erupted over the first weekend in June. An upcoming thresher tournament with whiptails reported not far from shore, while sheepshead are popping up in our South Jersey reports. Water temps are on the uptick and back bay fluking remains solid with a good mix of bluefish and weakfish bycatches in that mix. Of course, the sustained jumbo striper action has many Jersey Shore anglers in search of their “personal best” fish this weekend by boat and by beach.
