Those Fabulous NJ Fifties – Is This THE WEEK?
Our report along the beaches of Ocean County for this second weekend of November, 2021 has many surfcasters still waiting and hoping for a hot and heavy beach bite to begin. We lead off the report this week with a couple of quality surf-caught fish in recent days along this central stretch, and just as impressive are some of the fish out back along our western barrier island shores where bait is still thick. More jumbo striped bass in Monmouth County waters highlighted by the fish of the week honors over 50-plus pounds, and while reported on inshore squid in Shark River in last week’s video forecast, this week they’ve popped up in the back bays behind Avalon where striped bass action along the sod banks continues to impress in Atlantic and Cape May counties. A brief black sea bass and tautog update with a new Rhode Island record for one New Jersey angler, our weekly freshwater update with a report from the Pocono’s, and a quick look at the inshore forecast from NOAA Weather for the weekend ahead which looks pretty fishy if you’re looking for that surfcasting action to catch fire.
