NJ/DE Bay Region Fishing Forecast – February 22, 2024

The countdown to outback striper season in the Garden State continues, with just 8 more days until anglers can hit the inlets, bays, rivers and creeks in search of that first striped bass of the 2024 season.  Until the March 1 opener of winter flounder and back bay stripers, there are still a handful of boats running east for cod, pollock, ling and a few straggling tautog (which goes on one month hiatus after February 29).  Of course, white perch can be found from the Hackensack, Raritan, Toms, Mullica, and Great Egg rivers, on down along the tributaries along the Delaware.  We have your weekly freshwater update with the Pocono Outdoors Guy, a few Open Boat rod guide repair tips with Jenni Ackerman, and a rundown on the New Jersey fluke options running along social media this week, a good look at what the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council will vote on come March 7th in Galloway Township.  So which summer flounder season, size and bag limit option do you like best?
