Spooks at Halloween, sure seems appropriate giving the acres upon acres of bunker spread out along nearshore waters along the Jersey Shore this week – so yeah, the Docs and topwater “walk the dog baits” may be key in the days ahead. We’ve been getting reports of “super giants” and “mega jumbos” all week from boaters in the northern half of the Garden State, and heading into the first weekend of November surfcasters are chomping at the bit for some bunker busting along the beach. With all the bait, and bass, on the slide down the beach, bluefin are also on the feed which bodes well for a midshore fishery through the rest of ‘24. Looks like sand eels are in the mix with the menhaden right now, but as striped bass do start crashing bunker make sure you’re geared up and ready to roll. Hit the surf on Open Boat with Jenni’s weekly segment, get a look at the weekend weather outlook for your porgy and sea bass entries towards the Dream Boat, and don’t forget that offshore tuna bite in the canyons. The Pocono Outdoors Guy as your freshwater update, as we wrap up this week’s report with a look at news and events this weekend along the Jersey Shore.
