New Jersey & Delaware Bay Video Fishing Forecast October 15th, 2026
Striped bass reports in all four coastal counties of New Jersey this week - Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May - as the fall run begins to take shape. Adult bunker popping along the oceanfront this week, so it appears the table has been set for explosive plugging action in the coming days. Meanwhile out back in the bays and estuaries, the cooler nights and decreasing water temps have helped spur an improving sod bank bite with soft plastics and topwater leading the charge. Good news on the bluefin front this week with more than 33K pounds of quota added to the Angler category pile, even as it appears that swordfish action is the best of the big game news this week according to Canyon Runner. We have reader tips and on-site video of bunker on the beach this week to help in your weekend striper hunt, plus the latest on black sea bass, porgy and tautog at the Jersey Shore. A couple of additions to the Dream Boat leaderboard this and fall trout stocking is underway as well with a freshwater outlook from the Poconos. Finally this week we have a rundown on upcoming events of note.

Seems like a wave of larger stripers are hanging at the northern end of the state inside Raritan Bay and now spilling out from there, while stripers have been a bit scarce south of that. Snapper blues are loaded up in the surf but no bigger bluefish. Blackfishing has been red hot off any inlet jetty or rockpile. Some kingfish and spotted hake are nibbling on bloodworms and Fishbites. Loads of baitfish seem to be in the surf waiting for the waves of bass and blues to find them. The 8th Annual Barrier Island Beach Brawl wrapped up for its 2-day tournament over the weekend and overall reports were pretty slim. The final tally for weigh-ins was two bluefish of almost 2 pounds, nine tog to 3.6 pounds, 12 kingfish to 11 ounces, a few hickory shad and zero striped bass. There were zillions of snapper sized bluefish as well as houndfish in the wash along with a few brown and sharpnose sharks. A ton of bait such as spearing and cupcake bunker was lined up inside the sandbars from Point Beach down through IBSP, but not many fish were around to eat ‘em up. Good times were had by all though!

I wasn’t able to reach the folks at Hands Too Bait and Tackle on Sunday, but our South Jersey field editor Anthony Califano did, and the word is of some good striper fishing in the back bays. “Anglers fishing the sod banks and bridges found plenty of stripers willing to take soft plastics on 3/8-ounce leadheads, including several fish in the 40- to 46-inch range, and a 48-incher,” Anthony noted, adding that he also had word of a, quote, “honest bass blitz” out at Hereford Inlet.”
