New Jersey Video Fishing Forecast – August 5, 2021

Details on the NJ Tarpon That Broke the Internet

In this week’s video forecast for the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region, watch as Jim Hutchinson, Jr. sticks a fork in a toaster to watch the sparks fly – or is he just asking the questions that folks on either side of the “cancel culture” dividing line are too busy arguing over to ask? Spend a few minutes with the young fisherman from Barnegat Light who lit up social media over the weekend when he speared a 45-pound tarpon during a free dive along the South Jetty – yes it was legal, yes he ate it, and as far as the answer everyone keeps asking, yes Hutchinson asks it. The tuna bite is outstanding when weather (and weather forecasts from NOAA) allow a window of action, which unbelievably can be found just 20 to 30 miles out for yellowfin, even less for the bluefin. Surf fluke action was gangbusters through the weekend, and while things may have cooled off a bit to start the week expect that bite to intensify through the weekend; we have a couple of true “doormats” to report in this week’s full video forecast, along with some local anglers famous not for lighting fires on social media but for their contributions to the world of music and professional baseball.
