NJ Tournaments – Fluke, Tuna, Makos & Threshers
From the Hudson to the Baltimore, it’s been a tough week for canyon runners due to with stiff winds and heavy swells – that’s left things quiet on the tuna and mako grounds this week during the big duel-event out of Manasquan Inlet. The good news is that a high pressure ridge builds on Friday with mostly 3’s to 4’s offshore on Saturday and Sunday with winds finally subsiding a bit. We have a good report of sizable threshers from the mid-range grounds in this week’s report, plenty of fluke tournaments (summer flounder for those south of the Mullica!) coming up in the weekend ahead, and sheepshead coming on strong thus far this summer in our report from the pier at Grassy Sound Marina in North Wildwood. Plus, the top two places in the Black Drum Battle with just about a week left in The Fisherman’s May/June tournament.
